Rose takes helm at Annenberg Center

Michael J. Rose, executive director of Rowan University's Glassboro Center for the Arts, has joined the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts staff as its managing director, effective March 16.

Rose will be responsible for building on the Annenberg Center's existing strengths in dance and children's theatre while expanding the center's programming to appeal to a broader cross-section of the Penn and greater Philadelphia communities.

At Rowan, Rose managed a multi-purpose arts center that included a 910-seat concert hall and a 235-seat recital hall. During his 10-year tenure at the Glassboro Center, he built the facility into the principal performing-arts venue in southern New Jersey, featuring major draws such as Broadway musicals and world-renowned performers, and hosting special programs for Rowan students and area school children. He also put the center on a sound financial footing and helped raise Rowan's stature in the community on the basis of its arts programming.

The Annenberg Center is currently undergoing a three-year reorganization process launched after a comprehensive review of its operations last year.
