The men’s basketball team started the season 2-0 with wins over George Mason and Rice. Junior forward A.J. Brodeur led all scorers in both games, and has been selected Ivy League Player of the Week, Big 5 Player of the Week, and is the recipient of CollegeInsider.com’s Lou Henson National Player of the Week Award, which is given to the mid-major player of the week.
In Penn’s 72-71 win over George Mason in Virginia on Nov. 6, Broduer played 37 minutes and had 19 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and three assists. He shot 8-11 from the field, including 1-1 from the three-point line.
On Nov. 9, Brodeur had 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in the Quakers’ 92-76 victory over Rice at The Palestra. He was 9-16 from the field, including 1-3 from the three-point line.
A Northborough, Mass., native, Broduer has started every game of his Penn career. He was a Second-Team All-Ivy selection as a freshman and a unanimous First-Team All-Ivy selection last season. He was also named Most Outstanding Player of the 2018 Ivy League Tournament.
Penn started the season 2-0 for the first time in three seasons.
