Louisa Shepard covers English, history of art, music, theater, and classical studies, among other subject areas, in the School of Arts and Sciences. She also supports coverage for the Kelly Writers House, the Graduate School of Education, the Penn Libraries, the Penn Museum, the Arthur Ross Gallery, and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, as well as fine arts in the Stuart Weitzman School of Design.

The University is making final preparations for fall 2023 undergraduate Move-In between Aug. 21 and 27, when nearly 6,000 undergraduates will be moving into Campus Housing.

Starstruck on the Cannes red carpet

The 30 students who attended the Cannes Film Festival through a Penn Summer Abroad course were able to watch screenings of at least three to four films a day. For the most sought-after American film premieres they waited in “last-minute” lines for hours.

Cultures of the book

In the Cultures of the Book course taught by Whitney Trettien, assistant professor of English, students “adopt a book” they select from the Penn Libraries collection, and their research projects are published on an academic website.

Penn Masala at the White House 

The Penn Masala a cappella group was invited to perform at the White House during the state visit by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 19 members and alumni sang on the South Lawn before the arrival ceremony and at the state dinner.
