  • Penn Athletics receives big boost to men’s and women’s lacrosse programs

    The $5 million commitment from Penn alum James H. Greene and his late wife, Marritje V. Greene will establish the Greene Family Lacrosse Fund, which will provide ongoing financial support for the men's and women's intercollegiate lacrosse programs at Penn.

  • Historic marker unveiled for the Palestra

    This winter, a ceremony was held to unveil a historical marker from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission outside the Palestra, honoring the historical significance of Penn’s “Cathedral of College Basketball,” which was built in 1927.

  • Penn Athletics earns perfect AEI score from Athlete Ally

    The organization Athlete Ally, a leading national nonprofit working at the intersection of sport and LGBTQI+ equality, recently unveiled its third Athletic Equality Index (AEI). Penn’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics earned a perfect 100 score on the newest iteration of the AEI, making Penn the only Ivy League institution or Philadelphia city school to boast such a score.

  • Penn Athletics adopts recommendations developed by Racial Justice Task Force

    The Racial Justice Task Force focused on both short- and long-term recommendations over the course of four months. The recommendations were presented to AD Grace Calhoun and the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) executive team and unanimously approved. These recommendations provide direction and intention to DRIA’s efforts to become a more diverse, inclusive, anti-racist organization.

  • Ten named Academic All-Ivy for 2019 fall season

    Each season, 10 student-athletes from each Ancient Eight school are selected Academic All-Ivy. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Ivy, a student-athlete must be in at least their second year at Penn and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.

  • Six from wrestling place at F&M Open

    #TheMovement gathered some vital momentum with the dual season approaching, finishing with a 42-26 overall record and six placewinners across five weight classes. On the day, 17 of Penn’s 20 wrestlers recorded a win while ten finished with two or more victories.
