Penn Study: Hospital CPR Quality Is Worse at Night
CHICAGO -- CPR quality is worse during in-hospital cardiac arrests occurring overnight than those that happen during the day, according to a new University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine study that will be presented at the American Heart Association's annual Scientific Sessions on November 14.

Penn-Led International Study Finds No Difference in Nonsuicide Mortality Between Two Anti-Psychotic Drugs
PHILADELPHIA - The potential for harmful side effects associated with anti-psychotic medications for treating schizophrenia is a frustration for mental-health professionals who must balance this with the positive benefits of drugs. For example, the issue of the antipsychotic drug ziprasidone lengthening the QTc interval, a possible indicator of life-threatening heart arrhythmias, has demanded much attention among clinicians since the drug was introduced in 2001.

The election of JFK, 50 years later
Fifty years ago this month, a junior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts became the youngest person ever elected to the presidency and the second-youngest to hold the job. John F. Kennedy’s presidency was bookended by a narrow victory in 1960 over then-Vice President Richard Nixon (featuring the first televised debates) and his tragic assassination in November of 1963. Today, Kennedy remains one of the most admired and beloved presidents in history, coming in third on a 2007 Gallup Poll list behind Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

Somethin' for the People
Philadelphia’s own Bilal burst onto the music scene in 2001 with his debut album, “1st Born Second,” which sold 319,000 copies and featured the singles “Fast Lane,” “Love It” and the hit “Soul Sista.” Producers included the legendary Dr. Dre and the late J. Dilla. After a nine-year layoff, Bilal, a graduate of Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, is back with his second official album, Airtight’s Revenge.

Baby Blues BBQ
WHAT: Baby Blues BBQ is the restaurant and bar that’s taken the place of the departed Bubble Tea House at 3402 Sansom St., across the street from Penn Law School. NEW TIME ZONE: Baby Blues began as a beachside joint in Venice, Calif., (founded by Philly native Danny Fischer and his partner Rick McCarthy) and grew into a small chain with locations in West Hollywood and San Francisco. The Sansom Street location is its first on the East Coast.

Happ-e Holidays The holiday season is ripe with card-sending occasions, including Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa, not to mention birthdays, weddings or anniversaries that may fall in between. Purchasing and filling out holiday cards, buying stamps and mailing the greetings to family and friends can be a monotonous and time-consuming process. Penn’s free eCard site, courtesy of the Business Services Division, is making sending holiday or greeting cards quicker and easier.
