Wharton School Announces $15 Million Gift From Patty and Jay H. Baker to Establish Retailing Center
Philadelphia, PA—The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce a $15 million gift from Patty and Jay H. Baker to permanently endow the Jay H. Baker Retailing Center. Jay Baker, W’56, is a member of the Wharton Board of Overseers and retired president and director of Kohl’s Corporation, the Milwaukee-based department store chain.

Penn’s Amy Gutmann, Kathleen Hall Jamieson Named Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell and Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, the first lady, today honored Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania, and Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a professor in Penn’s Annenberg School for Communication, as Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania. Six other noted women were also recognized.

Penn Captures USTA Campus Championship--Middle States Title
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -– The University of Pennsylvania defeated Penn State University “B” at Lehigh University to capture the United States Tennis Association Campus Championship–Middle States, earning an automatic bid to the USTA National Campus Championship in Cary, N.C., April 7-9, 2011. Pennsylvania, Penn State and third place finisher Villanova will join the champions and runners-up from each of the 17 USTA Sections, as well as a number of additional teams who will receive at-large bids.

Car sharing meets a need for temporary wheels
Dear Benny, I know Penn is trying to decrease the number of people who drive to campus and I would like to take public transportation rather than drive. The trouble is that I often have to go to meetings or events around town as part of my job and therefore need a car. Golkin Hall
Photo credit: Mike Swiszcz With spectacular views of the Law School Courtyard, Golkin Hall is the fourth and final piece of Penn Law’s four-building site, and the last phase in a decade-long transformation of the Law School campus. Golkin will physically connect Silverman Hall—Penn Law’s signature, 110-year-old Georgian-style building—with Tanenbaum Hall, while also respecting the historical three-story row homes that make up Restaurant Row across Sansom Street.

Judah Friedlander the actor stars as “Frank Rossitano” alongside Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin on the hit NBC series “30 Rock,” and has appeared in more than 20 motion pictures, including “Meet the Parents,” “How High,” “Zoolander,” “Chapter 27” “Showtime,” “American Splendor” and “The Wrestler.” For his work in “American Splendor,” he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards.
