University of Pennsylvania Establishes Institute for Regenerative Medicine
PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania is launching the Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a new cross-disciplinary endeavor to investigate and harness the therapeutic potential of stem cells in the treatment of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, degenerative diseases, wound healing and aging. Two renowned Penn scientists, Jonathan A. Epstein and Ralph L. Brinster, will lead the Institute.The announcement was made today by Penn President Amy Gutmann and Provost Ronald J. Daniels.

A Partnership for Global Security: Penn Professor Among Six Experts to Outline Plan for Worldwide Biosecurity
PHILADELPHIA -- Harvey Rubin, director of the University of Pennsylvanias Institute for Strategic Threat Analysis and Response, is among six internationally recognized experts who have authored a five-point roadmap for the global community to enhance worldwide biosecurity. The experts recommend that these five priorities be undertaken through immediate, action-oriented initiatives on an international scale.

'XPN expands into central Pa.
Music lovers in central Pennsylvania woke up Halloween morning to find a new alternative on their radio to those tired commercial stations: WXPN. Penn’s renowned radio station, famous for its unique blend of rock, blues, alternative, roots and folk music, can now be heard on 88.7 and 99.7 FM in the Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York areas, as XPN made its first major expansion in years.
