Penn, Bucknell Alumni Teams' 3,050-Mile Bike Race Will Raise Scholarship Funds and Honor Fellow Biker
PHILADELPHIA -- Three University of Pennsylvania alumni are in the midst of a cross-country bike race against a four-man team of Bucknell alums to raise $1 million in scholarship funds for each university to support outstanding students from low-income backgrounds.The Bucknell-Penn Alumni Bike Race Across America for Scholarship, believed to be the first such effort by a group of university alumni to raise scholarship funds, is expected to take 19 days.

Penn Engineers Design Electronic Computer Memory in Nanoscale Form That Retrieves Data 1,000 Times Faster
PHILADELPHIA -- Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania have developed nanowires capable of storing computer data for 100,000 years and retrieving that data a thousand times faster than existing portable memory devices such as Flash memory and micro-drives, all using less power and space than current memory technologies.

Penn Launches New Program on Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism With Inaugural Lecture Sept. 20
PHILADELPHIA -- Demetrios Papademetriou, co-founder and president of the Migration Policy Institute, will present the inaugural lecture of the University of Pennsylvania's Program on Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism. The lecture will be on Sept. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Kirby Auditorium of the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St. in Philadelphia, with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public.
