Frank Lindh to Discuss Case Against His Son "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh at Penn

Lindh, father of John Walker LindhWHAT: Public lecture WHEN: Jan. 13, 2006, 10:30 a.m. to noonWHERE:Room 109 of the Annenberg School for Communication on Penn's campus Lindh, an attorney from San Francisco, will speak about the federal case against his son, John Walker Lindh, 20, captured in northern Afghanistan in December 2001 while fighting for the Taliban. The Annenberg School for Communication along with the Annenberg Scholars Program in Culture and Communication will sponsor the talk.

Penn History Professor Michael Zuckerman Featured in WHYY-TV Ben Franklin Documentary
PHILADELPHIA -- University of Pennsylvania history professor Michael W. Zuckerman will appear in the new WHYY-TV production "About Benjamin," a half-hour documentary celebrating the Benjamin Franklin tercentenary. The program will premiere on Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. on WHYY-TV with additional airdates of Jan. 15, 18 and 29.In the program Zuckerman is seen exploring Franklin's rocky relationship with the Penn family.

Penn Museum Hosts Free Darwin Day and Evolution Teach-In Feb. 12
PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology offers its first annual Darwin Day celebration Feb. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. The free event and evolution teach-in held in honor of the 197th birthday of Charles Robert Darwin, author of "On the Origin of Species" and the originator of the modern theory of evolution. The Penn Museum is located at 3260 South St., across from Franklin Field, in Philadelphia.

Penn's Arthur Ross Gallery Presents Anatolian Carpets from Philadelphia-Area Collections
PHILADELPHIA The University of Pennsylvania's Arthur Ross Gallery, 220 S. 34th St., is hosting "Antique Anatolian Carpets: Masterpieces from Philadelphia-Area Collections" from Jan. 21 through April 2. The exhibition is guest-curated by Dennis Dodds, an alumnus of the University and noted Philadelphia collector.

"On Risk and Disaster: Lessons from Hurricane Katrina"
PHILADELPHIA -- Hurricane Katrina raised fundamental questions about how the nation can, and should, deal with the inevitable problems of economic risk and social responsibility that disasters bring. A new book, "On Risk and Disaster: Lessons from Hurricane Katrina," gathers leading experts to identify lessons from Katrina about how to best prevent and manage risks from future disasters. The book is published by the University of Pennsylvania Press.
