Five professors here received Fulbright scholar grants to study abroad for the 1997-98 academic year.

The scholars' applications undergo a rigorous peer review before final selection by a presidentially appointed board. The 50-year-old Fulbright Program, which is sponsored and funded by the United States Information Agency, is also funded by participating governments and host institutions in the U.S abroad.

Recipients are:

• Margaret M. Cotroneo, associate professor, School of Nursing, who will lecture on nursing studies and American culture at the University of Witten/ Herdecke in Germany.

• Nader Engheta, professor and graduate group chair, Department of Electrical Engineering, Moore School of Electrical Engineering, lecturing on advanced electromagnetics at the University of Naples in Italy.

• Tracy K. McIntosh, director and professor of the Head Injury Research Center, doing research to evaluate the therapeutic potential of transplanting transfected neural precursor cells in the treatment of brain injury, at the University of Lund in Sweden.

• Eric W. Orts, associate professor in the Department of Legal Studies in the Wharton School, doing research on institution-building in the European Union in corporate and environmental law at Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium.
