Women of color luncheon on tap

The National Institute for Women of Color (NIWC) has designated the first day of Women’s History Month as National Women of Color Day, and for the 18th consecutive year, Penn and its Health System seek to increase awareness of the talents and achievements of women of color by hosting an Awards Luncheon. The 2005 luncheon is scheduled for Friday, March 4, at the Bodek Lounge and Hall of Flags, Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce Street. Tickets are $25, and a limited number of scholarship tickets will be available. To order tickets, please contact Constance Gordon at cagordon@pobox.upenn.edu. The Women of Color Awards are given in recognition of individuals who have conscientiously endeavored to increase respect for women of color at Penn and in the Philadelphia area. Awards are given in three categories: faculty/staff, graduate and/or professional student and undergraduate student. Anyone interested in nominating someone for an award can go to www.upenn.edu/ccp/WOCAP or call 215-898-0104.

Now you see it…

Soon, if there’s something wrong with your listing in Penn’s online directory, the only person you’ll have to blame is yourself. In the coming weeks, as part of a major directory facelift, you’ll be receiving an email asking you to preview and edit your listing before the new system goes live. As well as making sure all your particulars are correct, you’ll be able to better control the personal data about you that the world gets to see. The new directory will feature separate user-tailored listings. A Public View will list minimal information such as your name and affiliation, while a Penn View (accessible only to authorized users such as faculty, staff and students) gives you the option of supplying more extensive information—your title, up to four phone numbers and addresses, office hours and, for example, the name you are commonly known as, if different from your name of record. To view mockups of some of the new features, visit www.upenn.edu/computing/directory/preview.html. If you have questions, please contact new_online_directory@isc.upenn.edu.
