'Tipping Point' Author Malcolm Gladwell to Lead Penn Reading Project Group Sunday

WHO: Malcolm Gladwell, staff writer for The New Yorker, is the author of "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference."  This book was chosen for the University of Pennsylvania's Reading Project this year.  The author will lead a small discussion group of Penn students.

Gladwell, who calls this book "an intellectual adventure story," covered the AIDS epidemic as a reporter for the Washington Post, and, in his research, epidemiologists exposed him to a different way of looking at the world.

WHAT:  The Penn Reading Project, in its 14th year, is a shared intellectual experience for all new students.  The format is part lecture, part small group discussion on a book chosen by upperclass students and faculty.

WHERE: Gladwell will lead a small group session at the home of Leslie Delauter, director of the Office of College Houses and Academic Services, at Apt. 310 of Gregory House, Class of 1925 Building, 3941 Irving St., Philadelphia (near the intersectionof 40th Street and Locust Walk.)

WHEN:    3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5.

Reporters and photographers are invited to cover this discussion session, but they should call Dr. Delauter at 215-417-5102 to gain entry into Gregory House.  Additional information on the Penn Reading Project is available at www.upenn.edu/nso/prp/archive.
