Transportation justice, commute knowledge, and equitable access

While transportation research is often focused on mobility and demand, researchers in Megan Ryerson’s lab are also evaluating its role in social dynamics and environmental justice.

Researchers found that SEPTA Route 49 provided riders with greater exposure to age, social, and income diversity compared to their previous route. This exposure could enable more democratized mobility by providing new connections for people to jobs, the researchers say.
