    The Eduardo D. Glandt Presidential Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering also conducts research on soft materials and complex fluids, publishing work on topic areas such as material blends and membrane filtration. He’s also an Olympic athlete, having competed in taekwondo at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens.

    Vijay Kumar, CJ Taylor, Alejandro Ribeiro, Hamed Hassani, and Shirin Saeedi Bidokhti will contribute to Institute for Learning-enabled Optimization at Scale (TILOS) research on optimization in artificial intelligence, as well as the Institute’s educational and outreach efforts through a $20 Million grant.

  • Assistive technology for infants with cleft palate wins inaugural Advancing Oral & Craniofacial Health Award

    The Center for Innovation and Precision Dentistry,a collaboration between Penn Dental Medicine and Penn Engineering, has presented its inaugural Advancing Oral & Craniofacial Health Award to Eugene Ko, assistant professor of clinical oral medicine at Penn Dental Medicine, who will be collaborating with Shu Yang, chair and Joseph Bordogna Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, with a secondary appointment in the Department Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

  • Jackson and Tan mentor doctoral students on conducting community-engaged research

    Dean John L. Jackson, Jr. and professor Andy Tan are both mentoring Annenberg School doctoral students this summer as part of the Penn Graduate Community-Engaged Research Mentorship program, facilitated by the Netter Center. The 10-week program offers an opportunity for graduate students interested in community-engaged research to work on smaller scale, short-term projects guided by experienced faculty mentors.
