A new study in Health Affairs shows the average urgent care center (UCC) visit cost only $171 compared to $1,646 for a visit to an emergency department. However, the relative convenience of UCCs results in increased numbers of visits, which increases overall spending.

Caregivers across the country found themselves faced with new challenges.
