    The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) announced has awarded Annenberg School for Communication doctoral student Julia Cope for her paper “Capturing Climate Claims: A computational text analysis of energy company press releases.”

  • Is one call enough? Penn researchers examine Alzheimer’s Association Helpline

    Nancy Hodgson, chair of the department of biobehavioral sciences at Penn’s School of Nursing, and her team her were asked to evaluate the Alzheimer’s Association’s free, 24/7 Helpline and answer whether the Alzheimer’s Association Helpline is helpful. Hodgson found that 80% of caregivers who called benefited from the Helpline in some way.

  • Coping with anxiety through virtual reality

    Therapists at Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health Inpatient Service are among the first in the region to use virtual reality to help patients cope with general anxiety. Patients are provided with VR headsets through a program called Coping with Anxiety Through Virtual Reality.

  • Empowering caregivers and patients: Exploring the CARE Act’s communication improvements

    To evaluate whether the The Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act’s requirements improved the patient experience, LDI fellows Courtney R. Lee, Norma B. Coe, and Paula Chatterjee used data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, which measures patient experiences with discharges and other facets of hospital care.
