  • Weitzman MCP candidates win first and second-place prizes at Edmund N. Bacon Urban Design Competition

    This year’s student competition, “Designing For an Equitable Future in Chinatown,” asked students to elevate and prioritize low-income communities of Chinatown and leverage open space to facilitate equitable development and neighborhood preservation. The first prize was awarded to Qianyun Wei, Chris Xu, and Marcus Owens, and the second prize was awarded to Hongyi Li, Jingyi Cai, and Shuting Li.

  • Penn Futures Project leaves lasting impact

    Penn’s unique cross-school collaboration, the Penn Futures Project, which ran from 2015 to 2022, launched a collaboration among the University’s Graduate School of Education, the School of Nursing, and School of Social Policy & Practice to leverage interdisciplinary expertise to better support young people and their families.

  • Penn Dental students, faculty showcase research at annual meeting

    Penn Dental Medicine students and faculty turned the spotlight on the School’s research activities as part of the 2023 American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research/Canadian Association for Dental Research Annual Meeting & Exhibition, recently held in Portland, Oregon. A cohort of more than 50 student and faculty researchers were included in the scientific program, showcasing a diversity of projects across disciplines.

  • Patients and doctors overlook the best hospitals for cancer care

    New research by LDI associate fellow Caitlin Finn and LDI senior fellow Rachel Kelz find that even hospitals within miles of each other can provide a different quality of care, and their performance is often procedure-specific, meaning that a hospital with strong outcomes in one condition may have weak outcomes in another.

    March marks he publication of the 50th book in Penn IUR’s series with Penn Press.The 50 volumes cover a wide array of topics and cities, from informal politics in Accra to the role of immigration in revitalizing American cities to several edited volumes on urban issues of global importance, such as affordable housing, informality, downtown development, and climate adaptation.
