In recognition of a pioneering, in-depth analysis of the roles of racism and Americanization in the history of social work, the SP2 associate professor and her and co-author have been awarded the 2023 Frank R. Breul Memorial Prize by Social Service Review for their article “To ‘Elevate, Humanize, Christianize, Americanize’: Social Work, White Supremacy, and the Americanization Movement, 1880–1930.”

Penn Engineering’s ASSET Center aims to make AI-enabled systems more safe, explainable, and trustworthy. ASSET’s first funding collaboration is with Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine and the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics, which have launched a series of seed grants that will fund research at the intersection of AI and healthcare.

LDI senior fellow Margo Brooks Carthon discusses her team’s expansion of the hospital post-discharge safety net program that grew out of their research.
