  • NSF awards $1.98 million grant to Penn-led team for quantum circuit research

    Penn Engineering’s Ritesh Agarwal and Liang Feng, along with researchers from the City College of New York and Texas A&M University, will collaborate to to engineer proof-of-concept quantum circuits that incorporate two-dimensional quantum materials.

  • Penn engineers receive three grants through Manufacturing PA Initiative

    The three projects spearheaded by Penn are led by Kevin Turner, Shu Yang, and Mark Yim and were each granted approximately $70,000. The Penn professors will be collaborating with Pennsylvania-based companies to innovate the printing industry, medical devices, and drug treatments.

  • With new 4WD car, Penn Electric Racing adds to its trophy collection

    Penn Electric Racing is now the first American team to successfully run a four-wheel-drive vehicle at the student racecar competition Formula SAE Lincoln Electric. It earned REV5 third place overall at Lincoln, as well as the first place Cummins Inc. Applied Technology Award for the car’s battery design.

  • Penn engineers to send robots underground in DARPA Subterranean Challenge

    The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is hosting the Subterranean (SubT) Challenge for teams to create a robotics system that can successfully navigate underground tunnels, urban transportation systems and natural caves, and will be evaluated between August 2019 and August 2021.

    Cynthia Sung, Gabel Family Term Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, has been selected to receive a 2019 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, the NSF’s most prestigious award in support of junior faculty.

  • Liang Feng receives 2019 NSF CAREER Award

    The award will fund research by Feng, assistant professor in the departments of Materials Science and Engineering and Electrical and Systems Engineering, called “Topological Engineering for Active Photonic Structures and Devices,” which aims to advance the field of photonic computing and communications systems.
