Penn’s Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice & Research to Host 'Field of Dreams' Luncheon
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania’s Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice & Research will host its inaugural “Field of Dreams” luncheon, Friday, Sept. 23, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the College of Physicians, 19 S. 22nd St., Philadelphia. WPVI-TV anchor Monica Malpass will be the event’s master of ceremonies.

Penn Vet Professor Gustavo D. Aguirre Receives Grant from Foundation Fighting Blindness
Philadelphia, PA – Foundation Fighting Blindness has awarded Penn Vet Professor of Medical Genetics and Ophthalmology Gustavo D. Aguirre, VMD, PhD with a $230,000 grant to continue the Penn Translational and Research Facility. “The main goal of the Translational and Research Facility is to accelerate the development and the pre-clinical testing of new and effective approaches to treat several forms of retinal degeneration (RD) in humans,” said Dr. Aguirre.

Penn’s Social Impact of the Arts Project Receives Funds From NEA Philanthropies for Arts Geo-Database
PHILADELPHIA — The Social Impact of the Arts Project, a research project at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice in collaboration with The Reinvestment Fund and the City of Philadelphia, has received $250,000 in matching funds from ArtPlace, a consortium of national foundations, federal agencies and corporations.

Penn Park creates more room for fun and games
The 24 acres of Penn Park will bring much needed green space to the University’s athletic teams—intercollegiate, as well as intramurals and club sports. Michael J. Diorka, associate athletic director/facility management, says he worked closely with Facilities and Real Estate Services, the Turner Construction Company and architects of record Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates to bring the athletic facilities to fruition.
