Penn study rethinks how children learn first words
A team of Penn psychologists is helping to overturn the dominant theory of how children learn their first words. The research, conducted by postdoctoral fellow Tamara Nicol Medina and professors John Trueswell and Lila Gleitman in the School of Arts and Sciences, suggests that learning occurs more in moments of insight than gradually through repeated exposure.

University of Pennsylvania Announces MOU With Seoul National University
SEOUL, KOREA –- In a ceremony today at Seoul National University (SNU), the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and SNU announced an agreement recognizing shared academic interests between the two universities. The memorandum of understanding builds on school and program partnerships already in place, and will allow the universities to explore further collaborative research projects and other academic activities.

University of Pennsylvania Announces $7.5 Million Korean Studies Gift
SEOUL, KOREA –- The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) announced today two gifts totaling $7.5 million that will greatly enhance its Korean Studies Program, one of the oldest of its kind in North America. Alumnus James Joo-Jin Kim (W'59, G'61, GR'63) has given $6 million to strengthen the Korean Studies program, to be renamed the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies.
