Penn GSE and 15 APEC Member Economies to Conduct International Study in Science, Math Teacher Preparation
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education-International is teaming with 15 other members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation to conduct an international study on secondary-school teacher preparation, “Identifying Unique and Promising Practices in Math and Science Teacher Education in APEC Economies.”

Hero police dog treated at Penn Vet's Matthew J. Ryan Hospital
A police dog shot twice in the line of duty underwent life-saving surgery at the Matthew J. Ryan Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he is recovering from wounds to his left hind leg and left shoulder.

Penn Biologist Joshua Plotkin Awarded Packard Fellowship
PHILADELPHIA -- Joshua Plotkin, a biologist in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, has been awarded an $875,000 Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering.Plotkin was one of 16 researchers chosen from 99 nominees from 50 universities. His research involves mapping genetic information in nature through the use of mathematical formulas.
