Raymond Davis Jr. Wins Nobel Prize for Contributions to Neutrino Research and Our Understanding of the Sun
PHILADELPHIA – Raymond Davis Jr. of the University of Pennsylvania and Brookhaven National Laboratory is a winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in physics, the Nobel Foundation announced this morning in Stockholm.Davis, research professor of physics at Penn and research collaboratorin chemistry at the Brookhaven Lab in Upton, N.Y., shares the honor withMasatoshi Koshiba of the University of Tokyo and Riccardo Giacconi ofAssociated Universities Inc. and Johns Hopkins University.

Annenberg gift The Annenberg School for Communication will receive from the Annenberg Foundation a new, $100 million endowment gift that, in its first year, will support scholarships, faculty chairs and classroom refurbishing. The same amount was also given to the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California.
