Penn Staff Member Wins Brava! Women Business Achievement Award for Work in Philanthropy
PHILADELPHIA — Katherina Rosqueta, the founding executive director of the Center for High Impact Philanthropy, housed at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice, will be one of 25 to receive a 2011 Philadelphia SmartCEO magazine Brava! Penn’s Field Center to Unveil New Child-Welfare Technology at “One Child, Many Hands” Conference
PHILADELPHIA — The Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice & Research at the University of Pennsylvania is unveiling a prototype for its Information Portability Project during its fourth biennial “One Child, Many Hands: A Multidisciplinary Conference on Child Welfare,” Wednesday, June 8-10, at Penn’s Wharton School.

Penn Offering Postdoctoral Fellowships to Promote Academic Diversity
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania is accepting applications for its Academic Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The program will award postdoctoral fellowships to scholars and educators from different backgrounds, races and ethnic groups and from other diverse groups whose life experience, research experience and employment background will contribute significantly to Penn’s academic excellence. The deadline for applications is Aug. 1.

Two Penn Students Named Albert Schweitzer Fellows
PHILADELPHIA — Two graduate students from the University of Pennsylvania, along with 13 others from the greater Philadelphia region, have each been awarded an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. These students, members of the 2011-12 class of Greater Philadelphia Schweitzer Fellows, will spend the next year addressing health disparities in the region while developing lifelong leadership skills.

Penn’s Field Center to Hear Bill Cosby as Keynote Speaker at “One Child, Many Hands” Conference

Penn President Amy Gutmann to Receive Judge Lois Forer Child Advocacy Award
PHILADELPHIA -- Three University of Pennsylvania leaders will be recognized for their commitment to child advocacy this Wednesday, April 13. President Amy Gutmann will receive The Judge Lois G. Forer Child Advocacy Award, and Richard Gelles, dean of the School of Social Policy and Practice, and Ira Harkavy, director of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, will be recognized as Distinguished Advocates for Children by Philadelphia’s Support Center for Child Advocates.

School of Social Policy & Practice Students Unite With Other Universities to “Shout Out for Social Work”
PHILADELPHIA — Students from the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania, will don bright blue t-shirts and converge on 30th Street Station to talk with travelers and passersby about social work and how social workers can help them. Also participating in the 8 a.m. event on March 31 will be social work students from West Chester University, Temple University, La Salle University and Bryn Mawr College.
