University of Pennsylvania Announces 2009 W.E.B. Du Bois College House Renovations
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania has announced 2009 renovation plans for W.E.B. Du Bois College House, part of a continuing capital improvement effort for all Penn College Houses. The project builds upon $1.8 million dollars spent in the last five years on building renovations at Du Bois House. MGA Partners, the architectural firm responsible for renovations in Penn’s high-rise dormitories, has been hired for the project.

Penn's Laurie O. Robinson Is Named Acting Assistant Attorney General for Office of Justice Programs
PHILADELPHIA –-Laurie O. Robinson, director of the University of Pennsylvania Criminology Department’s Master of Science Program, has been appointed acting assistant attorney general of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs. She will take a leave of absence from Penn and begin today.

University of Pennsylvania Announces 2009 Penn Fellows
PHILADELPHIA – Eight faculty members at the University of Pennsylvania have been named the inaugural Penn Fellows, a leadership-development program that recognizes faculty in mid-career. Penn Fellows have the opportunity to build networks across the University, meet with distinguished academic leaders, think strategically about university governance and participate in monthly dinners with prominent speakers from within Penn and beyond. Penn Vice President for Public Safety Appointed to United Way Board of Directors
PHILADELPHIA – Maureen Rush, Vice President for Public Safety at the University of Pennsylvania has been appointed to the United Way’s Board of Directors. “The children, families and seniors of this region rely on United Way each day to improve their quality of life. With the leadership and support of dedicated board members like Ms. Rush we will continue to deliver on that promise,” said Jill Michal, President and CEO of United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Offers Graduate Post-Master's Certificate in Sleep
PHILADELPHIA –- The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing has created the first post-graduate program to focus on sleep and sleep disorders. The graduate post-master’s certificate in sleep is a one-year program that offers an interdisciplinary approach to sleep medicine, combining online courses with clinical experiences and preparing students to manage 80 sleep disorders.

Winter at the ICA
