PHILADELPHIA –- A new prosthetic accessory worn on the residual limb of a transtibial (below-knee) amputee was awarded the Grand Prize at the Fourth Annual PennVention competition for student inventors at the University of Pennsylvania's Weiss Tech House.

WHO: Faculty from the Nano/Bio Interface Center of the University of Pennsylvania sponsor a day of nanotechnology education and outreach for the Penn community, as well as regional high schools and neighbors. WHAT: The third annual NanoDay @ Penn is a full day of exhibits, demonstrations and nano-lab tours to highlight nanotechnology research across the campus. Area high school classes participate along with undergraduate and graduate students, boosting student interest in science, technology, engineering and math-related careers.

The University of Pennsylvania has agreed to modify one of its student loan programs, which is offered by Citibank, in response to a recent inquiry made to the University by the New York Attorney General. Penn will reimburse all participants who borrowed from the Penn CitiAssist program for fees paid by Citibank to the University. Penn had used these fees to provide financial-aid for its students. This student loan program is distinct from Penn's need-based undergraduate financial aid program and assists students who are not eligible for need-based financial aid.

PHILADELPHIA -- Moody's Investor Services has upgraded the University of Pennsylvania's long-term debt rating to Aa2, from Aa3. Moody's removed Penn's rating from a watchlist for potential upgrades and said the rating outlook is stable.This rating upgrade to Aa2 restores the University to its highest rating level, last achieved in 1998.
