Relaxation Techniques for a Stressful World

Need to relax? Come for an intensive workshop on applying relaxation techniques throughout your day. Learn about various relaxation techniques and exercises, including imagery, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation and breathing techniques. Step-by-step instructions are included so you can practice these techniques at home or at work. This workshop is sponsored by Human Resources and led by an expert from Penn’s Employee Assistance Program and Work/Life Benefit Provider. Please feel free to bring a ‘brown bag’ lunch.

Identify your strengths so you can leverage them to career success. This short video and several exercises will help clarify your skills and answer important questions to help you determine what is a good “career fit” for you.

The Attitude Virus

Once an attitude virus begins to spread, it can become an epidemic in no time flat. Productivity suffers and so do individual workers. With this revised program, you will learn how to vaccinate your organization from this potentially devastating threat. An attitude virus could be spreading through your workforce as you read this. Check for these warning signs: Resisting change, “It’s not my job…,” spreading gossip, misdirected anger and condescending perfectionism. Learn how to get to the cause, administer the cure, and create a healthier workplace for everyone.

Customer Service at Penn

Working with the public in a customer service capacity is hard work under any circumstance. Add to this the unique and often complex nature of the University setting and the interactions can become especially challenging. The purpose of this workshop is to help participants handle customer service interactions in a productive and professional manner.

How to Lead through Change and Uncertainty (Satellite Broadcast)

Sir Ernest Shackleton’s story of leadership—he guided his men safely out of Antarctica—will inspire managers to become transformational leaders in times of great change. Managers will learn the importance of leading by example, how to communicate with impact, and how to build morale by creating hope and optimism.

The Penn Perspective

Penn is a unique institution with a proud history and worldwide reputation for excellence. Although our mission of education, research and service is easily understood, the business of running such a large and diverse enterprise is not. This program will attempt to provide insight into these complexities and those attending the program will leave with a better understanding of how the University works. Participants will also complete the program with a greater appreciation for the role they play in this process. Lastly, the Penn Perspective will provide participants with an opportunity to meet and interact with other members of Penn’s vast community.
