Penn President Judith Rodin CW’66 became the first woman to receive the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s William Penn Award. The award recognizes business leaders whose professional and community contributions have enriched the region.

Rodin, who received the award in late April, was credited with revitalizing University City while raising Penn’s standards and following through on her commitment to improve the region’s public schools.

Rodin also won the Philadelphia Award for 2003. The award, which she will accept this September, recognizes her efforts to advance the best and largest interest of the community. This distinction, which carries with it a $25,000 honorarium, was established in 1921 by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and philanthropist Edward W. Bok.
