Clubbing in New York

The Penn Club of New York isn’t only for Penn grads. Or New Yorkers, for that matter.

In fact, the club, located in midtown Manhattan, is open to all Penn graduates, faculty, staff, students aged 21 and over, family of Penn graduates and spouses of club members. Membership dues are determined by age, category and place of residence.

The club’s 13 floors include dining rooms, a health club, meeting space, banquet facilities, a library and a business center. The club also hosts regular social events, from wine tastings to dinners, for its members.

Membership in the Penn Club of New York also includes access to 120 reciprocal clubs located around the world.

Two new VPs for Penn

Penn named two new vice presidents last month, as Bonnie C. Gibson was named vice president for budget and management analysis and Scott R. Douglass was named vice president for finance and treasurer.

Douglass came to Penn in 1992 as associate dean in Penn’s Wharton School and was named senior associate dean for finance and administration at Wharton in 1997. In that role, he manages the school’s $250 million operating budget. Previously, Douglass had served as secretary of finance for the state of Delaware, where he managed a staff of 260 and a budget of $1.7 billion. He led the effort to retain a AA-plus bond rating for Delaware.

Gibson had served as acting executive director for budget and management analysis at the University since January 2003. She came to Penn in 1987 as a business administrator in the School of Medicine. In 1992, she was named director of finance and administration for Penn’s Division of Information Services and Computing, and in 1996 she joined the Provost’s Office as executive director of administrative affairs.
