- Serves as the deputy director at the Center for the Study of Contemporary China at Penn, co-director of the Center for Asian Law and the director of the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute
- His research and teaching focus on contemporary Chinese law and politics, including legal reform and its relationship to economic reform and political change in China; legal and political issues of Taiwan and Hong Kong; and U.S.-China relations
- He’s written extensively on China’s engagement with international law, including South and East China Sea disputes.
