Vocal artist Victoria Hanna performs a mash-up of art, artifacts, and learning, with a set of rare objects on public display. Simcha Gross of the Jewish Studies Program will introduce the culture of demons and spells in the ancient Near East. This performance and talk is presented in partnership with the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies.

Movable Books Opening

Ellen G. K. Rubin will discuss her collection of pop-up and movable books, in connection with the new Penn Libraries exhibitions The Movement of Books and Material World. She will highlight special objects from her collection of 9,000 pop-up and movable books.

The Wolf Humanities Center presents the Dr. S.T. Lee Distinguished Lecture Series, featuring Anna Tsing, a professor of anthropology from University of California, Santa Cruz. Tsing, who studies the ecologies of land-water interface, will discuss concrete as a building material and an adjective.
