  • DVCEE Leadership Institutes encourage students to speak up

    Upper Merion Area High School hosted the 2023 Middle and High School Student Leadership Institutes earlier this month, with more than 700 student leaders and educators in attendance. The event is organized by the Delaware Valley Consortium for Equity and Excellence, a project of Penn GSE’s Coalition for Educational Equity.

  • First cohort of Jacobs Education Impact Prize Fellows receives funding to develop impact ventures

    In 2022, Penn GSE launched a new partnership with the Jacobs Foundation to support the next generation of education entrepreneurs. The project seeks to create lasting change in the lives of learners worldwide by establishing a new education innovation model pipeline and accelerator. The prize’s first recipients are Aqeela Allahyari, Sidra Alvi, Psacoya Guinn, Neha Gupta, Heidi Mitchell, and Natalia Rodriguez.

    In a topping off ceremony last month, the final piece of structural steel was lifted into place and secured to complete the new connector between 3700 Walnut and Stiteler Hall. The $35.6-million project is scheduled for completion in fall 2023.

  • Philly libraries and Philly families: How GSE apprentices are spending their summer

    Students in the Urban Teaching Apprenticeship Program spend their summer working with children from three Philadelphia schools providing academic support in reading, math, and art, meeting with the kids and their families at local libraries. The students earn a Master of Science in Education and a Pennsylvania teaching certification.
