Penn GSE and the Milken Family Foundation have announced the winners of the Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition. Cash prizes totaling more than $100,000 were awarded to winning ventures aiming to improve teacher professional development, offer new paths for autism treatment, and create a new immersive experience for students to learn American Sign Language.

A new grant will work to direct more Hispanic students towards Ph.D. programs at Hispanic-serving institutions and research universities over the next five years. The grant extends to humanities students who will work with mentors in their schools. In return, mentors will gain insight into the barriers that keep Latino/a students from entering Ph.D. programs in the first place.

On March 22 at 11:30 a.m., Graduate School of Education professors Harris Sokoloff and Jonathan Zimmerman will host the forum “Left, Right, and Center: Can We Talk About Sexual Harassment?” as part of the Penn Teach-in. At 4 p.m., Philadelphia Writing Project will screen the documentary “American Creed,” followed by a about civic engagement and participation.
