  • Designs for making the archive visible

    Through a partnership with PennDesign, the Penn Museum is displaying a collection of objects made just weeks ago. The objects are the work of first-year graduate architecture students who were asked to imagine a 42,000-square-foot addition to the museum that would integrate collections storage, gallery, and event spaces.

  • Sophie Hochhäusl and Daniel Barber contribute to Field Notes on architecture and the environment

    A new collection of positions on architecture and the environment edited by Assistant Professor Sophie Hochhäusl and ETH Visiting Professor Torsten Lange has been published in Architectural Histories. The collection, titled "Field Notes," is a collaboration between members of the European Architectural History Network's Architecture and Environment group.

  • Sensing the city

    This past fall, assistant professor of City and Regional Planning Allison Lassiter led a class called Sensing the City, in which fifteen students from the City Planning, Masters of Urban Spatial Analytics, and Integrated Product Design programs used Arduino to develop concepts for collecting data from and interacting with the urban environment.

    PennDesign has appointed Ralph Lemon, a choreographer, writer, visual artist, and curator, the Keith L. and Kathy Sachs Visiting Professor in the Department of Fine Arts for the 2018-2019 Academic Year.

  • PennDesign establishes Wilks Family McHarg Center directorship

    The $1.25 million gift from the Harry T. Wilks Foundation will lead research and programming at The Ian L. McHarg Center for Urbanism and Ecology, where environmental and social scientists join with with planners, designers, policy makers, and communities to develop practical, innovative ways of improving the quality of life in the places most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
