  • Featured Books: Women’s History Month

    Additional materials to celebrate Women’s History Month are on view in the Penn Libraries special collections: “Marian Anderson: A Singer’s Journey” and “Women Poets of the Renaissance” are collected in special editions in the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts. “Women in Prehistory: North America and Mesoamerica” is also part of the Caroline F. Schimmel Fiction Collection of Women in the American Wilderness.

  • Russell J. Composto named faculty co-director of Penn First Plus (P1P)

    Composto is currently a professor of materials science and engineering, the Howell Family Faculty Fellow, and associate dean for undergraduate education in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He will start his new role on July 1, 2023.

    The Libraries automatically acquires a wide range of diversity award-winning books for both adults and children. These are books that have won awards for their depictions of or significance to marginalized communities, often given by organizations representing those communities.

  • Penn Sustainability commuter survey open

    Penn Faculty and Staff are invited to share thoughts and opinions on commuting to Penn. This survey is conducted by PennPraxis on behalf of the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee Transportation Subcommittee, with the support from Facilities and Real Estate Services, Business Services and Human Resources.

    The Penn Libraries collection on display in February are selected by a collaboration among staff from Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center’s Access Services, the Otto E. Albrecht Music Library, and the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts. This month features newly published works by Black authors and filmmakers.

  • Recent changes to the Supreme Court and impact on constitutional law

    Brian Rosenwald, director of the Red and Blue Exchange at the SNF Paideia Program, moderated a panel of experts discussing the history of the Supreme Court, the creation of a conservative supermajority, the shadow docket, public opinion, and possible modifications to the structure of the Court including term limits and Court expansion.
