Penn opens its 130th season of football this year, and the Quakers once again figure to be in the hunt for the Ivy League championship: According to the Ivy League preseason media poll, Penn is predicted to finish second in the League. Of course, that’s only a prediction, and the Quakers, led by tailback Joe Sandberg (pictured at left), expect nothing less than a League title. One of the season highlights will be homecoming weekend (Oct. 28-29), when Penn takes on defending Ivy champs Brown.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania has been ranked second among the top 25 "Best Neighbor" urban colleges and universities in the nation, recognized for a strong, positive contribution to their communities. These institutions, dubbed "Saviors of Our Cities," use strategic planning and their resources to dramatically strengthen the economy and quality of life of their neighboring communities, according to a press release from Evan Dobelle, president of the New England Board of Higher Education, who compiled the list.
