Annenberg gift The Annenberg School for Communication will receive from the Annenberg Foundation a new, $100 million endowment gift that, in its first year, will support scholarships, faculty chairs and classroom refurbishing. The same amount was also given to the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California.

PHILADELPHIA – Chemical engineer Stuart W. Churchill of the University of Pennsylvania has been named by the National Academy of Engineering as the recipient of its 2002 Founders Award.Churchill, the Carl V.S. Patterson Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Penn, will receive the award and speak at NAE's annual meeting Oct. 6 in Washington.

PHILADELPHIA – The Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School will become official Monday, Oct. 7. More than two dozen Alexander family members and friends will join with students and teachers; Philadelphia School District, Philadelphia Federation of Teachers and Penn representatives; and invited guests to cut the ribbon.Ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. in the atrium of the school, 4209 Spruce St., where a school string ensemble will greet the guests with musical selections.

PHILADELPHIA – In a tribute to a woman whose lists of personal and professional achievements are unparalleled, the Penn-Assisted School in West Philadelphia is now officially The Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School. The School Reform Commission today passed a resolution approving the name.

PHILADELPHIA The University of Pennsylvania's Arthur Ross Gallery, 220 S. 34th St., is hosting "Antique Anatolian Carpets: Masterpieces from Philadelphia-Area Collections" from Jan. 21 through April 2.The exhibition is guest-curated by Dennis Dodds, an alumnus of the University and noted Philadelphia collector.
