Penn GSE Launches U.S.-China Future Leaders Program
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education-International is partnering with Beijing University and East China Normal University to create the U.S.-China Future Leaders Program to develop close relationships among young leaders and improve mutual understanding and respect.Twenty students from universities in the U.S. and China are participating in this two-month program. For one month the students will live in China and for one month they will live in the U.S.

Penn Graduate School of Education Researchers Head to Haiti to Improve Long-Term Educational Leadership
PHILADELPHIA — Sharon Ravitch, a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, will lead a team of researchers to Haiti on July 15 to launch an educational-redevelopment project aimed at helping to rebuild the country’s academic infrastructure.January’s earthquake in Haiti killed nearly 1,300 teachers, leaving a massive void in educational leadership.

Rebecca Maynard of Penn GSE to Serve as NCEE Commissioner
PHILADELPHIA – Rebecca Maynard of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education has been named commissioner of the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance.The appointment was announced by John Easton, director of the U. S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences.

Faculty Members Receive 2010 Lindback and Provost’s Awards
PHILADELPHIA – Twelve University of Pennsylvania faculty members have been honored as recipients of the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Awards for Distinguished Teaching, Provost’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and Provost’s Awards for Distinguished Ph.D. Teaching and Mentoring.The Lindback Awards, presented to members of Penn’s standing faculty since 1961, recognize distinguished teaching at colleges and universities throughout the Mid-Atlantic service area of Abbotts Dairies Inc. Christian Lindback was president and principal of Abbott’s Dairies.

Penn GSE Fellow Joins Philadelphia’s New Policy and Analysis Center
