Penn Research Shows Mouthwash Routine May Cut Risk of Preterm Birth
PHILADELPHIA — Research from the University of Pennsylvania has shown that rinsing with mouthwash isn’t just good for oral health, it may be associated with a reduction in the incidence of preterm birth in pregnant women with periodontal disease. In the study, pregnant women with periodontal disease who adhered to an antimicrobial mouthwash routine had less than half the incidence of premature births than members of a control group.

Penn Researchers Find a New Twist in a Blindness-causing Disease Gene
PHILADELPHIA — After more than three decades of research, University of Pennsylvania veterinarians and vision-research scientists, with associates at Cornell University, have identified a gene responsible for a blindness-inducing disease that afflicts dogs. In the process, the Penn scientists may have discovered clues about how retinal cells, and perhaps even neurons, can be regenerated.

Penn Offering Postdoctoral Fellowships to Promote Academic Diversity
PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania is accepting applications for its Academic Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The program will award postdoctoral fellowships to scholars and educators from different backgrounds, races and ethnic groups and from other diverse groups whose life experience, research experience and employment background will contribute significantly to Penn’s academic excellence. The deadline for applications is Aug. 1.

University of Pennsylvania Announces MOU With Seoul National University
SEOUL, KOREA –- In a ceremony today at Seoul National University (SNU), the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and SNU announced an agreement recognizing shared academic interests between the two universities.
