PHILADELPHIA — The Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania has released an investment guide to help philanthropists combat malaria, a treatable and preventable disease and major global health problem.“Lifting the Burden of Malaria: An Investment Guide for Impact-Driven Philanthropy” offers independent, practical guidance on how individual donors can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are at risk of contracting the disease.

PHILADELPHIA — A sizable percentage of high-net-worth givers do not see themselves as philanthropists even though each gives away about a million dollars or more annually.That is among the findings of a study by the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy.The CHIP study involved structured interviews with 33 anonymous high-net-worth individuals, each capable of giving $1 million annually.

PHILADELPHIA –- The University of Pennsylvania has joined forces with leaders from U.S. businesses, government and non-governmental organizations to launch a new initiative on business and the environment.The Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership, led by Penn’s Wharton School, will address the environmental issues facing businesses today from academic and policy-oriented perspectives. This cross-disciplinary endeavor also includes faculty from Penn’s schools of Arts and Sciences, Design, Engineering and Applied Science, Law and Medicine.

PHILADELPHIA -- Thomas S. Robertson, executive faculty director of the Institute for Developing Nations at Emory University and former dean of Emory's Goizueta Business School, has been named dean of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The appointment, effective Aug. 1, was announced by Penn President Amy Gutmann and Provost Ron Daniels.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania has partnered with Microsoft to enhance the communications platform it offers to many of its students. Beginning in the fall semester, students in the School of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School will have the option of using a customized version of Windows Live called Penn Live to access e-mail and a full suite of online communications services.
