It’s a neighborhood Moore compares to Kensington and North Philadelphia—the kind of places “where there’s a mix of manufacturing and residential all kind of juxtaposed together.”

UC Green spring planting
WHAT: Initially created by Penn in 1999, UC Green is now an independent nonprofit community greening program. The group’s Pruning Club program cares for selected blocks around University City each season and trains volunteers during the summer in proper tree trimming techniques. UC Green also runs the UC Green Corps, a youth employment group, and each spring hosts tree plantings to beautify the neighborhood.

Student performers call Platt home
There’s an arts club for just about everybody at Penn, from stand-up comedy and youth-focused theater to a jazz ensemble and an all-male, South Asian-inspired dance troupe. The Platt Student Performing Arts House, opened in 2006, is where all of these groups come together.

Penn Names Christian Conroy to Be State Director of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers
PHILADELPHIA -- Christian Conroy has been named state director of the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers.The announcement was made by Steven J. Fluharty, vice provost for research at Penn and chair of the Pennsylvania SBDC Oversight Board.Conroy, interim state director of the SBDC for more than a year, has been with the organization for 15 years, serving as associate state director for nine.
