Arthur Ross Gallery to Feature Medieval, Renaissance Manuscripts from Free Library of Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania's Arthur Ross Gallery will present "Treasured Pages: Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts from the Free Library of Philadelphia" beginning Oct. 13 and running through Jan. 6. The exhibition features 43 codices and single leaves from one of the most significant collections in the United States. The exhibition is a rare opportunity to view hidden treasures that provide a glimpse into medieval intellectual and artistic culture.

Penn, Bucknell Alumni Teams' 3,050-Mile Bike Race Will Raise Scholarship Funds and Honor Fellow Biker
PHILADELPHIA -- Three University of Pennsylvania alumni are in the midst of a cross-country bike race against a four-man team of Bucknell alums to raise $1 million in scholarship funds for each university to support outstanding students from low-income backgrounds.The Bucknell-Penn Alumni Bike Race Across America for Scholarship, believed to be the first such effort by a group of university alumni to raise scholarship funds, is expected to take 19 days.

Penn Launches New Program on Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism With Inaugural Lecture Sept. 20
PHILADELPHIA -- Demetrios Papademetriou, co-founder and president of the Migration Policy Institute, will present the inaugural lecture of the University of Pennsylvania's Program on Democracy, Citizenship and Constitutionalism. The lecture will be on Sept. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Kirby Auditorium of the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St. in Philadelphia, with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Penn and Brandywine Realty Trust Announce Collaborative Redevelopment of U.S. Postal Service Facilities in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania has completed its acquisition of various U.S. Postal Service facilities in the University City sub-market of Philadelphia, and will collaborate with Brandywine Realty Trust in a comprehensive redevelopment of the properties located on 30th Street between Market and Walnut streets.

Penn's Irma Elo Named Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Health Statistics
PHILADELPHIA -- Irma T. Elo, associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, has been appointed chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Health Statistics. NCHS is America's principal health statistics agency. NCHS collects data from birth and death records, medical records and interview surveys and through direct physical exams and laboratory testing to compile statistical information to guide actions and policies to improve public health.

Richard Hodges Named Director of University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
PHILADELPHIA -- Richard Hodges has been named the Williams Director of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Hodges will join Penn Oct. 1 from his position as director of the Institute of World Archaeology at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.
