2011 Wharton Business Plan Competition “Great Eight” Finalists Vie for Prizes, VC Interest
The Wharton Business Plan Competition has announced the eight finalists who will vie for $116,000 in prizes at the annual Venture Finals (http://bpc.wharton.upenn.edu/) taking place Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Wharton School’s Jon M. Wharton Launches Wharton Digital Press: Innovative Global All-Digital Business Publishing Initiative
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announces the launch of Wharton Digital Press (http://wdp.wharton.upenn.edu), an innovative global all-digital publishing initiative that will publish books electronically, including ebooks, enhanced ebooks, mobile apps, and print books available through print-on-demand technology.

Marjorie Perloff to Visit Penn April 25-26 as 2011 Kelly Writers House Fellow
PHILADELPHIA – Marjorie Perloff, one of America’s foremost critics of modern and contemporary poetry, will visit the University of Pennsylvania April 25-26 as the third Kelly Writers House Fellow for the spring semester. Perloff will participate in two public events and informal teaching sessions with young writers and aspiring writers. Last month playwright Edward Albee came to Penn as a Writers House Fellow. Non-fiction writer Susan Cheever visited campus as a Fellow in February.

Two University of Pennsylvania Professors Awarded 2011 Guggenheim Fellowships
PHILADELPHIA – Marwan M. Kraidy and Kevin M.F. Platt of the University of Pennsylvania have won fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. They are among 180 recipients of 2011 Fellowships, selected from a field of more than 3,000 nominees.

Gold Medals
Two recent renovations on Penn’s campus have set a gold standard. The refurbished and expanded Music Building, located at 201 S. 34th St., part of Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences, and Joe’s Café, a new eatery in the Wharton School’s Steinberg-Dietrich Hall, at 3620 Locust Walk, were certified LEED Gold in March by the U.S. Green Building Council.
