The Trustees' Council of Penn Women has invited Eliot Spitzer, New York State Attorney General on the topic of corporate governance and ethics. The talk will take place on April 4 at 10 a.m. in Huntsman Hall at the University of Pennsylvania's campus.

Eliot Spitzer became N.Y.'s 63rd Attorney General on Jan. 1, 1999. He has investigated conflicts of interest on Wall Street; power plants role in air pollution; privacy issues concerning internet companies and direct marketers; the distribution of handguns; and white collar fraud crimes.

He was a clerk to United States District Court Judge Robert W. Sweet and, later, an associate at Paul Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, and Garrison. He served as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan from 1986-1992, rising to become Chief of the Labor Racketeering Unit. He also worked at the New York law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, and was a partner at Constantine & Partners.

Spitzer is a 1981 graduate of Princeton University and a 1984 graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
