Evelyn H. Lauder Photographs to Be Shown at Arthur Ross Gallery at Penn

PHILADELPHIA -- "Beauties and Other New Work," an exhibition of color photographs by Evelyn H. Lauder, will be on display at the Arthur Ross Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania from August 26 - October 15.

The Gallery is located at 220 S. 34th St.

The exhibition presents Lauder's newly intimate approach to subject matter, from portraits to abstraction, along with a selection of larger vistas.  These photographs, all taken in natural sunlight, explore the varying moods and changing compositions created by shadow and light on her subjects.  Attention to detail, such as the translucency of a petal, the patterns created by architectural elements against the sky or sea, or the emergence of forms into light from darkness, all continue to convey Lauder's unique eye for beauty.

Evelyn Lauder has exhibited both nationally and internationally at such venues as Museu de Arte Contemporani de Barcelona; The Red Gate Gallery, Beijing; The Pace/MacGill Gallery, New York; Boca Raton (Fla.) Museum of Art; Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, St. Louis; Berggruen Gallery, San Francisco; and Baldwin Gallery, Aspen. This is her first solo exhibition in Philadelphia.

Lauder's photographs belong to numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Brooklyn Museum of Art; and the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.

Underwriting for this exhibit is provided by The Phoenix Companies Inc.

The Arthur Ross Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Exhibitions are free and open to the public.
