PHILADELPHIA -- Deirdre Martinez, a faculty member in the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government and director of the Penn in Washington Program, will field questions and offer advice about summer internships in a WashingtonPost.com online chat from 1 to 2 p.m., June 23.

Prior to earning her doctorate in education policy at Penn in 2006, Martinez worked as an advocate and policy analyst in the nonprofit sector and served as legislative director to U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra of California.

The Penn in Washington summer program runs from June 15 to Aug. 1 each year.  Interns receive one-on-one mentoring and participate in programs such as networking events with Penn alumni at the State Department.
