In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s philosophies of peace, justice and inclusion, Penn's LGBT Center will sponsor a talk by Sister Jeannine Gramick on "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Ministry and Non-Violent Love." The event will be free and open to the public.

In 1999, the Vatican ordered Gramick to halt her work ministering to homosexuals. The following year, at the Vatican's request, the School Sisters of Notre Dame prohibited Gramick from speaking about the Catholic Church's investigation of her national ministry to gay Catholics.

Gramick chose to transfer from the School Sisters of Notre Dame to the Sisters of Loretto, voiding the effect of the directive. She now continues to speak and write on homosexuality and Roman Catholic Church reform issues.
