Matt Olster (EAS'99, left) and Peter Carpi (EAS'99) operate a robotic arm developed for wheelchair users with a microcontroller they developed as their electrical engineering senior design project. It was one of 26 projects on display at the annual Senior Design Competition April 16. First place this year went to Harris Romanoff (EAS'99), whose design for a low-cost programmable theatrical spotlight system also won the competition's Harold Berger Award for the project that best combines technical innovation and entrepreneurial potential. The Frederick Ketterer Memorial Award for outstanding technical achievement went to Jonathan Bruzzi (EAS'99) and Harvey Chapman (EAS'99), who designed a data acquisition system for the Mobile Anisotropy Telescope, which is used by researchers exploring the evolution of the universe.
