Riepe named Trustee chairman

James S. Riepe (W’65,WG’67) has been named chairman of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania effective June 18. He replaces P. Roy Vagelos (C’50) as chairman.

Riepe is vice chairman of T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., a Baltimore-based investment management company. He was first elected to the board as an alumni trustee for a five-year term beginning in 1990. In 1995, he was reappointed for a second five-year term as a term trustee.

Riepe has served on the Executive Committee of the Trustees since 1993 and chairs both the Standing Committee on Audit and Compliance and the Investment Board. He also serves on the Budget and Finance, External Affairs and Student Life committees.

The Trustees also elected Vagelos as an emeritus trustee at the June 18 meeting.
