• Patricia Woldar was named Assistant Dean for Administration of the Graduate School of Fine Arts. Woldar comes to Penn from Philadelphia University of the Arts, where she served as assistant and associate provost and played a key role on the team that helped manage the merger of the two institutions that became the new university. Woldar is a graduate of Ohio State University, from which she received both a B.A. in Art History and a Master of Public Administration degree.
• Lindsay Falck was appointed Assistant Dean for Operations and Planning for the Graduate School of Fine Arts. Falck is a familiar face to GFSA students after having taught design studios and core courses in construction in the Department of Archictecture. Falck’s current research projects include archaeological conservation and structural mechanics at Catalhoyuk, Turkey, and high performance, climate-adjustable building enclosure systems. Falck has a B.Arch. and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Capetown, South Africa, where he later served as director of undergraduate studies and dean of the faculty.
• Julia Moore Converse was appointed Assistant Dean for External Relations for the Graduate School of Fine Arts, a role in which she will oversee the development activities of GFSA. Additionally, Converse remains the Director of the Archives and Curator of the Louis I. Kahn Collection. She was a contributing author to “Louis I. Kahn: In the Realm of Architecture,” and “The Louis I. Kahn Archive Personal Drawings. “
• Thomas P. Gerrity, Ph.D., outgoing Dean of the Wharton School, was appointed this week to serve as Director of the Wharton Forum on Electronic Commerce, a business-academic partnership focusing on e-business. The Forum brings together corporate leaders with Wharton faculty to share insights and discuss research on topics such as Internet pricing strategies and emerging new models for Web-based enterprises. Gerrity was founder and CEO of the Index Group, which he built into one of the world’s leading consulting firms in information technology and management. Under his leadership as dean, the Wharton School attracted record numbers of applicants, unprecedented financial support and widespread recognition around the world for its leadership in management education. Gerrity’s appointment further signals the School’s commitment to e-commerce and technology-related initiatives.
